Mathematics

For mathematics, to be at the Year 5 standard students will be working on stage 6 i.e, they will be starting or able to demonstrate some but not all of the stage 6 requirements.

To be at Year 6 students should be able to demonstrate most, if not all of the stage 6 requirements.

Think of it as each stage is broken into 3 linear parts or equal thirds - the beginning, middle and end. We refer to them as the basic, proficient, advanced.
Year 5 students need to be at the basic or proficient area of stage 6;
and the Year 6 students need to be at the advanced area of stage 6
